During her first year at UCSF, India co-founded a student organization dedicated to engage UCSF students in educational, professional and outreach opportunities related to the care of people who use drugs.
During her leadership term, India organized a number of educational events, advocacy efforts and curricular reform. She also lead a collaborative effort with a mobile hepatitis C van to establish a student volunteer program.
UIM Mentor Match
In her role as Mentorship Chair of the UCSF Student National Medical Association (SNMA) chapter, India designed, launched and coordinated a mentorship program for underrepresented in medicine (UIM) medical students.
By the end of her term, India coordinated two cohorts of over 250 participants and organized mentorship workshops. The program continues today with the official sponsorship of the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
UCSF Student-Run PPE Drives
In response to the PPE shortage at the start of the COVID19 pandemic, India and Hunter Jackson (UCSF SOM '22) mobilized to collect PPE donations from the community -- starting with just a cardboard sign at the corner of Dolores Park in San Francisco.
Through this effort, they collected over 23.5K masks that they then distributed to 9 hospitals and medical centers across the Bay Area.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Advocacy
Immediately following the death of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery, India mobilized a team of medical students in surveying the needs of Black students. She presented these needs to the School of Medicine Leadership and the Chancellor of UCSF. Since then, SNMA students have been collaborating with the leadership to implement our asks. India is most proud of advocating for the conception of the UCSF Racial and Sociopolitical Trauma Protocol.
